The defining characteristic of Havana syndrome is the variety of unexplained neurological problems it presents. These can include hearing loss, dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), problems with balance, memory lapses, and difficulty concentrating.

The cause of Havana syndrome remains a frustrating enigma. One theory suggests a targeted attack using a directed energy weapon, though no conclusive evidence has been found. Another possibility is that it's a psychological phenomenon brought on by stress or anxiety, particularly for those working in high-pressure environments overseas. 


Additionally, some experts haven't ruled out an infectious disease as a potential cause.
