   The Kowloon Walled City Siege, also known as the Siege of Kowloon Walled City, was a law enforcement operation conducted by the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) against criminal gangs in the Kowloon Walled City (KWC) between April and July 1974.  The siege was the culmination of years of efforts by the HKPF to crack down on crime in the KWC, which had become a lawless enclave notorious for its drug trafficking, prostitution, and violence. The siege began on April 20, 1974, when the HKPF deployed over 1,500 officers to surround the KWC. The operation was supported by armored vehicles and helicopters. The police cut off all power and water supplies to the KWC, and they began to search the area for criminals. The siege lasted for three months, and it was the longest and most complex law enforcement operation in Hong Kong's history.
